Cities
The major cities are the capital Sarajevo, Banja Luka in the northwest region known as Bosanska Krajina, Bijeljina and Tuzla in the northeast, Zenica in the central part of Bosnia and Mostar, the capital of Herzegovina.

Sarajevo
Sarajevo is one of the most historically interesting cities in Europe. Luckily the city has physically recovered from most of the war damage inflicted in the early nineties. Sarajevo is a cosmopolitan European capital with a unique Eastern twist that is a delight to visit. The heart is formed by the city's Old Townm with its cobbled streets, mosques and Oriental style shops.Sarajevo is surrounded by hills which offer fantastic views over the city. In August you can visit the Sarajevo Film Festival.

Climate and landscape
The region of Bosnia is the largest geographic region with a moderate continental climate. It has hot summers and cold, snowy winters. Smaller Herzegovina is the southern part of the country. Here you have a Mediterranean climate and topography. The natural resources of both Bosnia and Herzegovina are abundant. Some natural attractions are the Una River and its magical waterfalls, the wild canyon of the upper Neretva and the lovely River Sutjeska that flows through the oldest National Park. Central Bosnia is the most mountainous part of Bosnia with the impressive mountains Vlasic, Cvrsnica, and Prenj.
