Slovakia

 SlovakiaSlovakia is a small, picturesque country, situated in Central Europe. lt has common frontiers with Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary.
In 1993 Slovakia separated from the Czechoslovak Republic and became an independent state. With numerous medieval towns, high mountains, caves and a lively capital city, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Slovakia.

Heritage
Slovakia is a country with traces of the most diversified past cultures. They are preserved in plentiful architectonic heritage: Gothic temples, baroque and rococo palaces, renaissance curiae and first of all the immense heritage of folk architecture in tens of skansens and outdoor museums. They decorate the beautify landscape and talk about its past.

Slovakia is  rich in cultural and historical heritage. Examples are the old mining town of Banska Stiavnica, with its numerous beautiful monuments or  Spis Castle, the largest medieval castle in Central Europe. Numerous museums and art galleries offer evidence of the technological, social and cultural progress of Slovakia today.

Nature
Slovakia may be proud of the extent of its preserved-nature in respect of its entire area. The country is situated in the zone of a mild climate. Differences result from the altitude of the respective locality. The climate of the western and southern Slovakia is similar to the climate in Southern Europe. The mountain regions and northern valleys are characterised by the alpine climate. Besides nine national parks there are many lower grade protected areas and smaller reservation. The karst cave, the ice cave and the aragonite cave - they all are protected and accessible. As considerable part of the country has the karst character, there are a lot of sinkholes and mineral and thermal springs.
