Things to do in Prague

Remarkably Prague has architecture dating back some 600 years, while many other cities sadly lost their architectural gems to war. In the castle district roam around the castle grounds for free. Sat within the castle complex is St Vitus’ Cathedral, which is a great Gothic example. Particularly interesting are the Bohemian crown jewels housed in the coronation chamber, including the gold crown of 'good' King Wenceslas. The Old Royal Palace and Šternberg Palace, also shouldn’t be missed whilst you’re in this part of the city.

The real joy of this city is wandering aimlessly and soaking up the city’s unique aroma. In 1357, the construction of the Charles Bridge began. Now it allows the perfect union between the two halves (Staré Město and Malá Strana) of the city of Prague. The bridge itself is lined with statues and monuments, as well as Jesuit propaganda. There’s often some quirky folk sniffing around this tourist hotspot doing street entertainment of sorts. Watch out for pick-pocketing as this is a heavily touristic area.

The Prague Pub Crawl is a great way to focus all your energies on getting some quality Czech beer down you and leaving the logistics to someone else. You’ll be taken to a selection of bars around the city and will have the chance to meet some of the locals, as well as other backpackers. Open until 5 a.m. Radost FX is a popular place to dance the night away and is the last club to close in the city. Depending on which night you go, you’ll get anything from hip hop and RnB to techno and house.
