The Portugese Railway company is called Companhia dos Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses or CP. Comfortable Alfa Pendular (AP) trains cover the Lisbon (Lisboa) - Porto (Oporto) route.
There are various direct train connections between Portugal and Spain.
The main rail line of Portugal runs between Braga and Faro, with good connections. The areas surrounding Lisbon and Porto are well-served by suburban rail services.
The comfortable Alfa-Pendular train stops only in main cities, for example between Braga, Porto, Gaia, Aveiro, Coimbra, Lisbon and Faro. InterCity trains will take you to further inland destinations, such as Évora, Beja and Guarda.
First class is called Conforto, second class is called Turística on the high-speed (rápido) trains. Local and suburban trains do not have class distinction.
