
The easiest, most comfortable and most rewarding way of travelling in Romania between cities is by train. There are trains servicing every town and city in the country, and the many villages.
Rail network
Romania's railway network is one of the largest (the 4th in Europe) and most dense in Europe. Usually a train station can be found no further than 10km from a village.
The fastest trains in Romania are the Intercity's - IC (running on the route Bucharest – Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest – Timisoara, and Bucharest – Iassy) and ICE (2 pairs of trains running on the route Bucharest – Constantza.

How to get there
Romania is relatively well connected with the European railway network. There are daily international trains to for example: Munich, Venice, Vienna and Prague.

- Personal (P) and Accelerat (A): slower trains, reservations not required
- Special (S): tourist trains
- International trains: reservations required
Bicycles
Bicycles are only allowed on domestic trains that have special storage facilities and upon advance purchase of a special bike ticket.
