City beach
When the Stockholm sun becomes overbearing (and yes it can get hot in Sweden during summer) there’s no better place to be than Längholmen Pontoon. Take a refreshing dip in the city’s clean, cool water. This sandy cove is a popular beach alternative for city dwellers and tourists alike. Other spots to chill include Ralambshovs Park, which often has theatre and music events going on during the summer, plus some nice bars and restaurants.
Längholmen is a 10-minute walk from the Hornstull metro station. The Thorildsplan metro station is a 10-minute walk from the park.
Sunken warship
Once buried treasure, the Vasa ship was salvaged from the bottom of the ocean in 1961 and is now displayed at the Vasa Museum. The Swedish warship sank on her maiden voyage in 1628, and thanks to meticulous restoration 95% of the ship is back its original form and glory. It is a magnificent piece of art with intricately carved sculptures and decoration. For a taste of Swedish royalty head to Drottningholm Palace, referred to as the Versailles of the North and explore this seventeenth-century royal residence.
The Vasa ship museum is a 5-minute walk from the Nordiska Museet tram stop. To reach Drottningholm Palace take the metro to Brommaplan and from there change to bus 301-323 to Drottningholm.
Be seen in Stockholm’s party scene

Party beneath crystal chandeliers with the who’s who at this legendary venue. If brushing shoulders with the rich and famous doesn’t float your boat then Östermalm neighbourhood is a clubber’s paradise with heaps going on throughout the weekend – the lively square of Stureplan has the biggest concentration of nightlife.
Café Opera is a 5-minute walk from Stockholm Karl XII metro station. Stureplan square is a 10-minute walk from Stockholm’s main train station.
