Take the kids along
Experiencing Europe by rail is also great as a family, especially as child travellers get a 50% discount on adult prices. Children under 4 travel for free. One of the most valuable ways your child can learn about the world is by seeing it!
4-11 year olds get 50% off
A child pass can be used by children aged 11 or under on their first day of travel. Child passes are available for either 1st class or 2nd class travel. Simply select the child prices in the pass table – prices shown include the child discount. It is possible to order a child pass without ordering an adult pass within the same order.
Under 4s go for free
Children under 4 on their first day of travel, go for free! They don't need an InterRail pass. On crowded trains, parents may be requested to sit children under 4 on their lap, as they are not guaranteed their own seat – to do so you must reserve a seat in advance. On night trains, it is necessary to reserve and pay for a separate couchette or sleeper for young children if you would like them to have their own bed.
